-Lettre sans date (1779 ?) (de Den Haag) : « Je vous conjure de le redemander à Mr. de Stosch et de considerer cela comme l’une des choses qui m’inporte le plus dans ce monde. S’il y a une chose où je suis sçavant, c’est dans tout ce qui concerne les pierres gravées, et je n’y reconnus aucun superieur. Si Mr. de Stosch fait executer à cette gravure importante la manoeuvre qu’il projette, non seulement elle court de très grands risques, mais elle devra être remontée en neuf tout de suite, puisque le chaton qui est deja usé et trop foible dans plusieurs endroits, aura perdu toute sa consistence. D’ailleurs il n’y a dans toute la Republicque qu’un seul homme auquel on puisse confier une pierre gravée à monter, c’est Mr. de Koening. Tous les autres ici sans exception ne valent rien absolument, et il me le fera dans 5 ou six jours tout au plus » (Koninklijke Bibliotheek Den Haag, 132 F 1; Sluis 2011, 2.13, p. 27).
