Lettre du 9 août 1580 (de Rome): "Credo che V. S. Ill.ma haverà inteso, come l'altro giorno morse il S.r Mario Gabriele, quale ha lasciato un numero grande di bellissime medaglie di bronzo, tre camei singularissimi, et un’acqua marina grande, nella quale è intagliata la testa di Galba Imp. di mano eccellente. Ho voluto darne a V. S. Ill.ma questo poco di conto, acciochè la mi commandi se devo passare più oltre. La rimessa che V. S. Illma s’è degnata concedermi per il cocchio, ho inteso che nel ritorno suo a Roma, è per servire alle carrozze et cocchi di V. S. Ill.ma; per la qual causa ho fatto intanto fabricarne una nel sito che s’è contentata darmi. Nella quale havendo messo certi legnami, mi son convenuto per il restante pagare al muratore scuti venticinque, delli quali, perchè lasciandosi da me questa rimessa per qualche accidente, resta in casa, m’è parso darne avviso a V. S. Ill.ma, caso che a lei piacesse sgravarmene per la causa suddetta, et per la molta spesa che ho fatto di presente nel cocchio et nelli cavalli. Il che sia detto a V. S. Ill.ma con quella humiltà et modestia che si conviene. N. S.re la conservi felicissimamente. Da Roma a’ IX di agosto 1580. Di V. S.
