Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

Lettre du 24 décembre (1732 ?) (sans lieu): an immense and discursive letter. He fumes at having been deceived into purchase of coins at Cleves at exorbitant price - an example of the typical practice of extortion. He submits for O’s. estimate of their worth with a view to purchase a bronze coin generally agreed to figure Otho, and a silver coin. He has a very great deal to say about each. He warns O. that it is necessary to be wily with the traveller conveying the coins lest he take advantage (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 495, f° 15-18).
