|Grand document=Lettre du 1 août 1735 (de Dijon): Abstract : I have now set in order my remarks on Petronius’ poems on the civil war and revised my translation, and got my Pervigilium Veneris ready for the press, and, e.g., sought to re-establish various writers’ corrupt texts; and I hope Mr. Burmann will bear me no grudge for treating of an author whom he has already published. But I have an ancient MS. of Petronius which B. has not seen. In reference to Burmann’s design to edit Suetonius I possess a MS. of this author 4 or 500 years old. I have also recovered a probably unique bronze medal with the head of Tiberius on one side, and the reverse entirely similar to that of Augustus in Morellius’ Thesaurus, with a legend interpreted by Havercamp (quoted). The outstanding production at Paris is l’Abbé Fourmont’s great collection announced in the last volume of the proceedings of the academy of inscriptions (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 492 f° 90-91).
