Lettre du 15 février 1737 (de Dijon): Abstract: He sends his reply to some reflections by Mr. Masson on my explanation of a medal of Vaballathus, and has enclosed a note of advise to our printer. He would like to know if the savants to whom O. has doubtless distributed copies (presumably of my translation of Petronius’ poems and notes on Pervigilium Veneris) are pleased, and he hopes Burmann has not taken offence. Please let me know of their criticisms. Burmann will notice that in my Tusculana now in the press I have made use of the different readings of the Leyden MSS. France cannot offer the slightest novelty worthy of your attention. In order to keep up the good custom of seasoning our letters with some literary items, I raise a passage from Euripides’ Troads for interpretation of a certain word in its context.
