30 Jan. 1589 (from Antwerp): “Delectavit me praeterea quod de Numismatum Hispaniae libello scribis, tanto equidem magis quod quae vir ille maximus Romae me adolescente habebat omnia videram imo et ipsius exemplo antiquaries esse coeperim, ac tendem eo in studio sic profecerim et nummorum veterum aliarumque antiquitatum cum multitudine tum excellentia ac raritate in hac tota provincial cedam nemini, ne Laurinis quidem fratribus quos patronos habebat Goltsius cessurus, si, quod optarem, adhuc viverent. Verum tota illorum supellex misere disrepta periit hostium barbarorum injuria. Quid vero de mea futurum sit nescio. Si emptorem invenero, vendam non invitus [...] Agam vero cum Ortelio ut ex Rovilly (nb: Roville) typographi manibus quod habere cum scribis extorqueamus ac tradamus Plantino ut is qua fieri poterit ipse suis typis imprimat.
