Lettre du 8 jan. 1588: “Si stamparono in Spagna fino a sessanta essempalri … La cagione perché non si stamparono piu essemplari fu immaginare l’autore che in Spagna sono rare le persone che si delettano di questi studii, et gli restanti indotti haveriano occasione di mormorare ch’un tanto prelato, et vecchio et stimato per dottissimo, si meterse a stampare in simil età opera, secondo il giudicio di loro, di pochissima importanza » (Milan, Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Ms. D. 422 inf., f. 232 ; voir Missere Fontana 2009, p. 32, note 18).
