-Lettre du 25 janvier 1634 (d’Aix) : « Ce que vous dîtes que nul Mahometan ne peut porter couronne, meriterait aussi une disquisition plus exacte pour distinguer la forme de couronne; car j’ai une infinité de médailles de princes mahometans qui ont la tête ceinte d’un ruban qui était l’ancienne couronne des rois grecs; et ne peignait-on jamais guère anciennement des têtes ou figures des Maures sans un petit bandeau blanc qui était une espèce de couronne, à laquelle j’ai cru qu’ait succédé le turban, quelque excès qu’il y ait en sa grosseur ».
