Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

Lettre du 25 avril 1765 (sans lieu): He praises P’s essay on Cunobelin’s coins, which fills in an important gap in the history of coins. He mentions a few points needing further elucidation. He is glad that P. refutes the idea that coins were minted for tribute only, and passes some erudite observations on Greek and Latin terms. He puts forward proposals for disposal of unsold copies of P’s dissertations on gold coins, with a detailed costing of inclusive costs, and adds a few literary items, e.g. possible reprint of Camden’s Britannia. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Eng. letters d. 45 fols. 483-486).
