Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Lettre du 6 octobre 1776 (de Windmill Sheet) : après l’achat de la collection Pellerin:« We understand that you always keep your duplicate medals for exchanging occasionally the more effectually to enrich the King’s Cabinet […] Here too, from the union of Mr Duane’s collection, which you know was great, with mine, which was considerable, there are a number of duplicates, the greater part of which will be sold this winter, and some will be reserved for exchange. Presuming that it will not be desagreable to you, I take the liberty of transmitting to you two small lists. The first list is of few valuable medals which I can give in exchange. The second list is of such medals as I should chose to receive in exchange. If you will take the trouble to tell me which are those, if any, that you would wish to haveand which of the second list you can give, I shall take care to reserve accordingly » (Paris, BnF, Ms. N. acq. fr. 501, f° 32 ; Sarmant 2003, p. 280, note 60).
