'I have divers times according to yor desire putt mr ffawkner in minde to laye by some old Medalls for you, when {he} has two or three of a Sort; a ffrench merchant in Towne mett wth a whole Sett of very faire ones some Silver some Gold, & ye most Copper and as hee was informed by a Sciote yt sold them wt they were (wch had they beene soe would have beene the most choycest & of great vallue) wch hee p’d about $60 for; but when were brought to mr ffawkor to see them (having seen the catilogg before) found them not the same hee had writt on them; but others very common, besides more all now made at Scio; att wch newes Mounsre almost in a Transs, and emediately went in serch of this Merchant, who deserves to bee hang’d, they counterfetting abundance there.'
