24 Dec. 1589 (from Rome): “Doet mijn recommandatie aen S Galle, seggende dat Stradanus mij goede chijre ende alle vrintschap getoont heeft, heeft hij hier mijns van doen, hij sal mij bereijt vinden. Ick heb hier kinnisse met Ciacconus een Spaensche Jacopin die gecommenteert heeft columna Traiani, hij is seer curtieus, ende heeft het fraaiste cabinet van alle antiquiteijten in abondatie, maer al sijn medallen sijn verset aen de Joden” (Leiden, Universiteitsbibliotheek Leiden, MS BPL 2766; Hessels 1887, no. 170, p. 411).
