As to wt you’re pleased to enquire abt The book of draughts of Medalls, there were none of ym found in Engld. ’Tis a very large thick fo & ye fronts & reverses curiously & accurately taken & delineated. My brother bought it of Dr Twisden, who (I take it) p/curd it in Italy. I remember when we both lookd it over, we found a great many fine ones. That we could not meet in Goltzius, Occo, or Mediobarbus upon him, Spanheim, Patin, or Vaillant &c but not being able to tell by wm this collection was made, I am afraid it abates considerably of ye value of ye book.

These MSS & a handsome collection of coins & other curiositys of Antiquitys &c were collected by Sr R. M.’s father, & had he not been taken off in ye flower of his age, he wd have added considerably to them, but his son Sr R.M. has made a valuable addition to them, & I hope will bring ym all together, for they are now att twenty miles distance.
