Diary of Simonds D'Ewes, 30 April 1646: 'tum sermocinatus sum cum Nathaniele Hallaeo de rarissimis numismatis Graecis Romanis et alijs nuper ad Thomam Finchum Winchelsaei Comitem spectantibus emendis, pro quibus iam illius ope et opera transegeram.'

[then I spoke with Nathaniel Hall about the very rare Greek, Roman and other coins which I had recently seen at the house of Thomas Finch Earl of Winchelsea and which I was going to buy, for which I had now come to a settlement with his help and efforts.]
